Love does no harm to its neighbor. Romans 13:10
Dear Child,
If I cut you with a knife, do I love you? That depends. If I’m a thief trying to steal your money, of course I don’t love you. But if I’m a doctor performing surgery on you to save your life, then yes, I do love you. It doesn’t just matter what you do to someone, it also matters why you do it.
Have you ever told on someone who was breaking the rules? Why did you do it? If you did it just so you could see that person get in trouble, you did not act out of love. But if you did it because you knew that person was in danger of ruining his life by breaking the rules, you did it out of love. When telling on someone will make things better in the long run, that’s when it’s the loving thing to do. Love doesn’t always look like love. But if you are truly helping someone, your actions are motivated by love.
Your Helper,
God
